EACHI August Events:
August Discussion Club: Join us for a discussion on nuclear weapon risks Saturday, August 10th from 2-4 pm at the Near North Library Chicago Library meeting room. We'll explore topics discussed on recent episodes of the 80,000 Hours podcast like the "three-body problem" between the US, Russia, and China, talk about potentially effective approaches to mitigate catastrophic nuclear risks, and discuss how nuclear weapon risk fits into larger global catastrophic risks. You can register for the event here: https://lu.ma/236ek57g . Please feel free to come even if you’re worried it will be awkward, you won’t fit in, or you aren’t the “typical person who comes to an EA meetup.” And remember, readings/media are optional!
